Notes About the Social Work Major at Miami University
- All students must complete an Advanced Writing course at Miami University to satisfy the Advanced Writing requirement for the Global Miami Plan for Liberal Education (Miami's general education plan).
- Completion of the associate of Arts Degree as written on this plan at Columbus State completes the Ohio Transfer Module and satisfies the Global Miami Plan Foundation I-V courses, Historical and Cultural Courses, and the Thematic Sequence.
- All students will complete a Capstone course in their major or related area.
- Incoming transfer students may apply to the Social Work (BSW) program at any time with a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students must meet with a Miami academic advisor regarding the program and attend an orientation session on the Oxford campus at the start of the fall or spring terms.
- All students, regardless of year of entry, are held to the Social Work retention policy.
