NY no longer a reciprocal state

We would like to preface this post by reminding you that we have very little ability to assist with license issues regardless of the state of licensure. You should reach out directly with questions!

New York Reciprocity: Effective February 1, 2023, New York no longer has reciprocal agreements with other states. Currently to renew a real estate license in NY, licensees must obtain 22.5 hours of mandatory education with 3 hours of fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property, 1 hour of agency (2 hours for new licensees,) 2.5 hours in ethical business practices, and 1 hour of recent legal matters is still required. NEW Also, continuing education must now include 2 hours of instruction in cultural competency and 2 hours of instruction pertaining to implicit bias as part of the 22.5 hours of mandatory continuing education.

Also, they eliminated the exemption or “grandfathering” of long-time brokers from having to complete continuing education.

Connecticut CE Renewal Dates: CE completion deadline are 3 months ahead of the renewal deadline on the CT site. Links below based on license type.
